1-day workshop in The Netherlands for experienced animal trainers: Being Evidence-Based with your Animals: Using Data to Optimize Animal Training & Welfare.

Instructors: Dr. Eduardo Fernandez & Sabrina Brando MSc.

You want your animals to be happy and healthy. You want to achieve your training goals. Data is key to evidence-based decision making. Throughout this workshop, we will focus on the use of data to (1) objectively measure training progress, (2) assess and monitor animal welfare, and (3) use this information to communicate your training and welfare successes to co-workers, management, and other colleagues.

Join us for a full day workshop where you will learn about different methods of analysing behaviour, tools for tracking and monitoring behaviour, and the benefits of becoming evidence-based with all your applied animal behavior endeavours.

Dr. Eduardo J. Fernandez received his Ph.D. in Psychology from Indiana University, where he worked with the Indianapolis and Cincinnati Zoo. He received his M.S. in Behavior Analysis from the University of North Texas, where he founded and was President of the Organization for Reinforcement Contingencies with Animals (ORCA). He is currently a Visiting Professor in the School of Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of Technology. Eduardo also continues to run the Animal Reinforcement Forum (ARF), a former listserv and now Facebook group, which is dedicated to group discussions on animal training and behavior from a scientific perspective.

Sabrina Brando is Owner and Director of AnimalConcepts, manages 247 Animal Welfare and is Primate Care Training Program Coordinator with the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance. Her favourite job title however is ‘I am in the business of animal happiness’. For the last 27 years she has been working in and with the global zoo and wildlife profession, including zoos, aquariums, wildlife centres and sanctuaries. Sabrina is currently a PhD student investigating the topic of “24/7 across lifespan: zoo animal and human wellbeing”. Sabrina was involved in the development of ZIMS for Care and Welfare, a module that streamlines access to critical key welfare indicators with the ability to systematically track and monitor inputs and outputs of animal care, and teaches on a wide variety of animal welfare related topics.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY:
Participants will receive a confirmation upon reception of the registration form. You are then officially registered. Cancellations received at least 3 month prior to the first day of the conference or workshop will be honoured and fees, if already paid, refunded, less a processing fee. Cancellations made after this date up to 2 months before the start will be refunded at 50%. Cancellations made less than 1 month before the seminar are not refunded. In fairness to all attendees, confirmed participants who do not attend their scheduled workshop or conference are liable for the entire fee unless other arrangements have been made with AnimalConcepts prior to the start of the event. All payments have to be received prior to the start of the seminar, if this is not possible then only a cash payment on the day will allow access to the event.
